SIA Refresher Training for Door Supervisor

Learn the skills needed to renew your door supervisor licence and operate legally in the private security industry.

About the Qualification
This refresher qualification is for learners who hold a current licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the latest licence-linked training requirements (October 2024). The programme is based on the SIA’s own specification and covers essential knowledge and practical skills for renewal.

Course Duration
Learners are required to undertake approximately 21 hours of learning, which includes guided self-study. The SIA mandates a minimum of 11 hours 15 minutes contact time (typically 1.5 days) if self-study is undertaken.

Key Topics Include:
- Terror threat awareness and the role of a door supervisor
- Searching techniques, including vulnerability and spiking awareness
- Application of physical intervention skills and the associated risks
- Safeguarding the public, especially vulnerable people

Entry Requirements
Learners must meet the following requirements to enrol on this qualification:

• Age Requirement:
Learners must be 18 years or older.

• English Language:
Learners must have a good level of English (speaking, listening, reading and writing).
This will be confirmed through an initial assessment before the course begins.

Identification – Acceptable Forms of ID:
Learners must provide:
One Group A ID (e.g., Passport, UK Driving Licence, Biometric Residence Permit), OR
Two Group B IDs (e.g., Bank Card, Utility Bill, Birth Certificate, Council Tax Letter).
All ID must be original, valid and in-date.

Proof of Address:
A recent proof of address (within the last 3 months) may be required depending on the course.

Additional Requirements (Course-Specific):
Some SIA courses (such as Door Supervisor, Door Supervisor Refresher) may require:
Completion of a First Aid qualification (EFAW or equivalent), valid within the last 12 months.
