Appeals Procedure

Purpose
To provide a fair and transparent route for learners to appeal assessment or IQA decisions, ensuring alignment with awarding organisation standards.

Grounds for Appeal

Learners may appeal if:

- Procedures were not correctly followed.
- The decision is inconsistent with the evidence presented.
- Feedback does not justify the outcome.
- Bias, unfair treatment, or other concerns may have affected the decision.
- Relevant circumstances were not considered.

Procedure & Timescales

Stage 1 – Informal Resolution
Discuss the issue with the Assessor within 5 working days.

Stage 2 – Formal Appeal
Submit a written appeal to the Centre Manager within 10 working days.
An independent reviewer will acknowledge the appeal within 5 working days and provide a written outcome within 15 working days.

Stage 3 – Director Review
If still dissatisfied, escalate to the Director within 10 working days.
A panel review will take place, with a final centre-level decision issued within 15 working days.

Stage 4 – External Appeal
If unresolved for regulated qualifications, learners may refer the matter to the awarding organisation within their published timescales.

Confidentiality & Records
All appeal records are kept for a minimum of 3 years and made available to EQAs on request.

Improvement
Appeals data is reviewed annually to identify themes and make improvements.
